Located in the historic Northside Neighborhood, just a few blocks north of downtown Iowa City, the Gilbert Street space is an intimate, 118-seat modified black box theatre. Riverside produces a full season of plays from September to April at this location, referred to as the Gilbert Street Season. Shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Gilbert Street, begin at 7:30 p.m. On Sundays, our matinees begin at 2:00 p.m.
During the summers, Riveside Theatre produces Riverside Theatre in the Park, held at the Festival Stage in lower City Park. Traditionally, one Shakespeare play and one classic play run during June and July.
Over the course of the year shows include the classics, contemporary and new work, world premieres, musicals, an annual monologue festival and more.
For Gilbert Street, parking is available in a metered lot –free after 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays—located behind the theatre; enter from Market Street. Limited street parking is also available.

Riverside Theatre does not cancel or reschedule performances due to inclement weather for Gilbert Street productions.
Sales & Exchanges—all sales are final. No refunds are available. However, returned tickets may qualify as a tax deductible donation if returned to the Box Office at least 30 minutes prior to show time. Tickets may be exchanged (for the same production only) by contacting the Box Office at least 24 hours in advance of the performance.
About Riverside Theatre in the Park (RTP):
During the months of June and July, Riverside Theatre performs an outdoor season at the Riverside Festival Stage in Iowa City’s Lower City Park.

The summer season consists of two plays, which run in repertory for four weeks. In 2013, the Riverside Theatre summer season ran from June 14 - July.

When to arrive:
-Arrive at least 20 minutes before a show to pick up your tickets and find your seat.
-The grounds (Box Office and Concession Stand) open 90 minutes before any performance and you are welcome to come early and enjoy a picnic.
-One hour before the show begins enjoy the FREE Green Show, a condensed and lively version of the upcoming performance, performed by our apprentice company. The Green Show takes place on the lawn in near theatre. The Green Show is always free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy your meal as you watch.
Concessions: Wraps, drinks and sweets are available before the show and during intermission.

Parking: .At Riverside Theatre in the Park, there is free parking in a lot in front of the Festival Stage and in additional lots in Lower and Upper City Park.
Ticket Exchanges: Tickets may be exchanged for the same production by contacting the Box Office at least 24 hours in advance of the performance.
