Daniel Dempsey

Dennis/Ensemble in As You Like It

Daniel Dempsey is thrilled to be working with Riverside Theatre for the first time. He would like to thank Ron Clark and Jody Hovland for such an amazing opportunity. Just finishing up his sophomore year at Cornell College, Daniel’s previous credits include Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, directed by Ron Clark. Most recently Daniel assistant directed/stage managed The Toymaker’s War for Working Group Theatre and directed All in the Timing at Cornell.

Home base: Mount Vernon, IA is my home base at the moment as I go to Cornell College

“The ensemble of this company is great. Getting to know each other is just as important as getting to know the character that we become.”

Fun fact about Daniel: I lie and say that I'm allergic to nuts. I'm not. Shhhh...

Hobby or Hobbies: Sign Language, Singing, Puzzles, Sleeping, Changeovers.

Kalen Harriman

Rosalind in As You Like It and Nerissa in The Merchant of Venice

Kalen Harriman is happy to return to Iowa City after a wonderful year in Montana. She has previously been seen on the Riverside's stages in Love's Labour's Lost, Romeo & Juliet, Mary's Wedding, and Boom. Other credits include Much Ado About Nothing, The Merchant of Venice (Montana Shakespeare in the Parks), As You Like It (Montana Shakespeare in the Schools), & Trojan Women Project (Rivendell Theatre Ensemble). She has studied at Southern Methodist University, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, under the tutelage of Carlson & Hart, and with a heart full of curiosity.

“It’s the perfect setting for the Forrest of Arden in As You Like It. One of my favorite moments is arriving in the forest and being able to actually take in the real trees and grass, and air, and all that nature that we are surrounded in-it’s a real experience.”

Home base:  Chicago, IL

Fun fact about Kalen: I’m considered petite next to my brother, mom & dad--I’m the smallest of the 4!

Hobbies:  Hiking at Hickory Hills or Woodpecker Trail while I’m here and, of course, all things yoga
