“We are having so much fun playing this summer! There is so much ensemble spirit within the company and I think it shows on stage.”

Fun fact about Elyse: I LOVE board games! I host “game night” all the time.

Hobbies: Guitar/Harmonica

John William Watkins

Le Beau/Corin in As You Like It and Gratiano in The Merchant of Venice

John's theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Richard 3, The Merry Wives of Windsor and King Lear (RTSF), Big Love, A Hamlet, In the Night, Eurydice, Reefer Madness (University of Iowa), Guys On Ice: An Ice Fishing Musical, The Lonesome West, (Riverside Theatre), I Do! I Do!, Lost in Yonkers (Iowa Summer Rep).  His film credits are Blushing, Carbon, Bumblef*ck, USA and Divinity.  John holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Iowa.

Hometown: Muscatine, Iowa

Most recent home base: Iowa City    As of July 2012: New York City

“These plays move me and capture my imagination. The process of bringing these plays to life with this particular company and at this particular time in my life has made me strive to work from a place of more joy and love and less judgment, not only as an actor but as a human being.  AYLI is a play about how love breeds more love and Merchant is a play about how hate breeds more hate: the perfect combo.”

Fun fact about John: I heart Iowa City!

Hobbies: songwriting, running through Hickory Hill

Don’t miss tonight’s performance of As You Like It at the Festival Stage in Iowa City’s Lower City Park. Main stage performance begins at 7 p.m., As You Like It Green Show starts at 6 p.m.
