Riverside Theatre in collaboration with Working Group Theatre is proud to present a special reading of the play “8” on Thursday, November 15 at Riverside Theatre. "8" is an account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by the American Foundation for Equal Rights to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry. The play is written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and AFER Founding Board Member, Dustin Lance Black (writer of Big Love and Milk) and local actors and community members will theatrically read the script. After the show there will be a talk-back for audience members with State Representative Vicki Lensing and Molly Tafoya of OneIowa about the landscape of marriage equality in Iowa, and nationally.
Following the talk-back, audience members will be invited to a lobby reception sponsored by Devotay, for light food, drink and conversation.
