Thanks for a Great Reading of the Play 8
Congratulations to all on a great evening! The play "8" by Dustin Lance Black about California's Proposition 8 and marriage equality was performed as a staged reading on Thursday, November 15 at Riverside Theatre in collaboration with Working Group Theatre. Twenty-one local actors and community members performed the roles, and after the show Molly Tafoya of One Iowa & State Representative Vicki Lensing discussed the landscape of marriage equality in Iowa and the nation. A big thanks to all of the performers, our distinguished speakers, lovely audience members and to Devotay for catering the delicious reception. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales for this event went to American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER).
The play “8” opened as a Broadway world premiere on September 19, 2011, at the sold-out Eugene O’Neill Theatre in New York City. The play continues to be performed at theatres around the country.
