Thursday Theatre Talk for A Steady Rain on March 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Riverside Theatre will host a Thursday Theatre Talk for its upcoming production of A Steady Rain by Keith Huff, on Thursday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m. The talk will take place at Riverside Theatre, 213 N. Gilbert Street, Iowa City. The event is free and open to the public.
Though A Steady Rain calls for just two actors, these characters, Joey and Denny, Chicago police officers and best friends, evoke a wide and complicated world, ranging from Denny's family to crime victims to criminals--as well as a whole series of questions about how these men cope, more and less successfully, with the stresses of the job.
Join Miriam Gilbert, University of Iowa Department of English, and Matt Johnson, retired Captain in the Iowa City Police Department and a former Commander of Field Operations, as they explore the problems--and the solutions--that police officers confront.
Riverside Theatre’s production of A Steady Rain is an area premiere. The playwright, Huff, is a graduate of the University of Iowa Playwright’s Workshop. A Steady Rain was performed on Broadway in 2009 and Huff is currently working on adapting the play for EON Films.
A Steady Rain contains strong language and adult content.
